The 2012 Australian Jazz Bell Awards have been announced, celebrating Australia’s ever-strong, diverse and internationally acclaimed jazz scene.

Our congrats go to all nominees and winners, in particular Peter Knight and band – winner of Most Original Jazz Album for Fish Boast of Fishing. Engineered by Robin Gray, Mixed by Myles Mumford, and mastered at Deluxe Mastering by Adam Dempsey.

Gearing up for springtime in Australia’s music capital, Tony “Jack the Bear” Mantz has been mastering releases for The Fuzzbirds, Blind Munkee, Cave of the Swallows, Dirty Radio, Jonesez, Brackets, Thrall, Larry K (mixed by James Frew), Bitter Sweet Kicks, The Irresponsibles, Radio Ink, Rainshadow, Burgworth, The Sunny Days, The Hired Guns, new Jessica Mauboy single (remixed by US producer Rac), a live album for Autumn Gray (Canada) complete with 40 piece symphony orchestra and mixed by Jimi Maroudas, and new album for Jeff lang including a bonus disc of live tracks and rarities.

Projects mastered by Adam Dempsey include Fish Boast of Fishing (Peter Knight, recorded by Robin Gray at Allan Eaton studio and mixed by Myles Mumford), Vague Cuts (mixed by Jez Giddings at Hothouse), Lanrae, The Audient, Zac Brennan, singles for The Fearless Vampire Killers, Butcher Blades/, Pony Face, debut EP for Broadway Sounds, the latest Going Down Swinging compilation, and a new single for both CD and 10 inch vinyl for Heirs (mixed by Neil Thomason at Head Gap).

The team also sends props to Sloth for re-capping the PSU’s for the mastering-modded Chandler LTD-2’s.

Tony “Jack the Bear” Mantz has been working on releases for Jungle Traffic, Trond Werner Hansen, Jessica Mauboy, Danny T, Tommy Trash, Mason Rack, Amy Meredith, Red Squad, Kids of 88, Corpus, Charlie Lim and Brothers.

Self-described as “Joni Mitchell meets James Brown in Bob Marley’s pumpkin patch via the Muppets!” Mal Webb and Penelope Swayles of Totally Gourdgeous have finished mixing and mastering their new album with Adam Dempsey.

Also completed with Adam are debut upcoming releases from Brea Acton (expertly engineered by Dave Manton), The Domenic Bello Trio, Pro Rata, The Fallen Gentry, Beth Knights, 2010’s compilation from NMIT produced by Greg Arnold, new album for the Daniel Gassin Sextet (mixed by Myles Mumford), and a single for Heidi Elva as part of an Italian compilation.

Deluxe Mastering also welcomed Finn Keane to the team, who’s been wrapping up releases for The Noks (NZ).
